Central And East European Law Initiative
The Central and East European Law Initiative (CEELI) is a public service project of the American Bar Association (ABA) designed to advance the rule of law in the world by supporting the law reform process underway in Central and Eastern Europe and the New Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (NIS). Through various programs, CEELI makes available pro bono, U.S. legal expertise and assistance to emerging democracies that are in the process of modifying or restructuring their laws or legal systems.
The ABA’s largest pro bono project, CEELI was co-founded by a Miller & Chevalier attorney who continues to serve as Chairman of CEELI’s Executive Board. A number of Miller & Chevalier attorneys have served as CEELI volunteers. The Miller & Chevalier Foundation funded the first law library in Kyragyzstan, also a CEELI project.
