Recruiting  Associates  Evaluations
Miller & Chevalier is committed to providing meaningful and timely feedback to all attorneys to maximize their professional development. The Lawyer Development Committee administers the evaluation program for all non-Member attorneys. In addition to providing ongoing, informal feedback and guidance, evaluating attorneys are required to regularly prepare formal evaluations of attorneys they supervise, which are provided to the Lawyer Development Committee. The Committee holds formal evaluation meetings every six months for first, second and third year associates, and every nine to twelve months for more senior attorneys.

During the evaluation meetings, attorneys receive frank feedback regarding their development, which is designed to be informative and supportive, rather than critical. Attorneys also discuss their performance against their annual strategic plans and identify objectives for the future.

Starting in late 2003, all associates have been given the opportunity to provide “upward feedback” on members with whom they have worked. The firm believes that these evaluations are critical in helping members continue to become better lawyers and team members.
