| John Magnus is a high-profile trade litigator and policy practitioner with 19 years of experience in the field. His experience includes market access disputes involving goods and services, subsidy cases, World Trade Organization (WTO) law, foreign governments’ trade regimes and industrial policy measures, and customs and compliance issues. Mr. Magnus has litigated numerous antidumping, countervailing duty, and other import-related cases before the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), as well as their reviewing courts and bi-national panels. He has also litigated Section 301 cases before the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and has helped to defend U.S. measures and prosecute U.S. complaints in numerous General Agreement Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and WTO dispute settlement proceedings. Earlier in his career, Mr. Magnus was a partner at Dewey Ballantine LLP and a member of its Washington, D.C.-based international trade practice group. Currently, he serves as the Chair of the Cuba Study Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of International Law.
