Safeguarding intellectual property and other proprietary information is vital to every company’s business. Our lawyers advise companies on securing and protecting their rights in computer software, technical data, copyrights, and patents when they do business on government programs (both U.S. and foreign). On the counseling side, we assist clients in preparing and negotiating software licensing agreements, consulting agreements, CRADAs, and grants. We also litigate these issues if a dispute arises or if a company alleges infringement of a patent in the course of a government contract.
We also frequently represent clients in FOIA disputes, typically when competitors or other members of the public have requsted our clients’ intellectual property under FOIA. We have prepared oppositions to release, and where appropriate have pursued legal action to prevent release under FOIA.
