Miller & Chevalier’s employee benefits and employment tax practice represents many of America’s largest companies, as well as some of the world's biggest non-U.S. companies, on executive compensation and payroll-tax matters. Over the past three years, we have represented nearly 30% of the Fortune 100 and nearly 25% of the Global 100. The team has nationally recognized expertise in payroll taxes, cross-border compensation, retirement and welfare arrangements, executive compensation, and shareholder disclosure. In addition to advising clients on the day-to-day compliance issues, the team has a well-established reputation for its work in guiding companies through complex and high-stakes projects, as well as negotiating executive compensation arrangements. A recent example of the group's technical skill is its work with numerous public companies in deciphering the IRS’s new rules regarding executives' use of corporate aircraft. The team also provides large companies with sophisticated, in-depth experience in tax controversy and employee benefits litigation. Miller & Chevalier's employee benefits practice features multiple former senior IRS officials, including a member who formerly served as Special Assistant for Fringe Benefits in the Office of IRS Associate Chief Counsel (Employee Benefits and Exempt Organizations). With its office centrally located next door to the Department of Treasury and down the street from the IRS and Capitol Hill, and armed with this “inside the beltway” team, the firm routinely helps its clients navigate Washington bureaucracy and successfully resolve issues before they develop into costly legal problems.
